Chinese antique furniture comes in many guises. Our main area of interest is in the antique Chinese furniture of the Shanxi region of Northern China, much of which dates from the early Qing period and may best be described as transitional furniture; that which was made in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. This early Chinese furniture was very often made in Elm or Walnut and usually lacquered in one way shape or form.
